Research areas
The Department of Economics and Statistics “Cognetti de Martiis” promotes teaching and research in many different topics in economics and statistics. The approaches to these issues have both theoretical and applied nature and often they are interdisciplinary. The Members of the department belong to different scientific areas and their research activities cover different fields.
About the department
The Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Torino is the heir of one of the Italian most ancient and most prestigious institutions for the study of economics: the Laboratorio di Economia Politica, funded in 1893-94. It was promoted by Salvatore Cognetti de Martiis, Professor of Economics, now considered the most distinguished Italian exponent of 19th century Positivism in Economics.
PhD - Vilfredo Pareto Doctorate in Economics
The Vilfredo Pareto Doctorate in Economics is a three years doctoral program offered by the University of Turin within the Doctoral School in Human and Social Sciences (DsHSS). The program also benefits from a close collaboration with the Collegio Carlo Alberto which hosts students' offices and offers a wide range of research and academic activities.
